The Chunky Totem Series, depicting a dragon winding through mountain ranges, consists of five sculptures that share a single narrative. Without attempting to prove or faithfully recreate the legend, the dragon sculptures replace the materiality of mythical artifacts with modern industrial materials like acrylic. When contemporary materials disrupt the temporality of these virtual relics, the presentness of the artist and the work intersects with the sculpture’s timeline.
This series debuted in Chunky Totem Series (the 2nd solo show)
at WWW Space, Seoul in 2021 and has since been shown in multiple group exhibitions.
