The inspiration for the video, a “weather-forecasting stone,” is a structure installed in Jeju Island, though similar versions can be found around the world. The idea that the condition of a stone placed outdoors changes with the weather is entirely logical and obvious—yet it is presented as if the stone itself has the power to predict the weather. This absurd humor led me to imagine what it would be like if ancient people misunderstood such a stone as having prophetic powers. That train of thought eventually extended to an interest in the cliché of the Asian priest figure often found in science fiction films. During the exhibition, I manually played videos corresponding to real-time weather conditions.
The work was shown in a solo exhibition at Osisun X Theatrebase in Seoul (2020).

The Weather Forecasting Stone is an installation originally found in Jeju Island, though similar structures can be seen worldwide. The idea is simple: the stone naturally changes with the weather, but it is humorously presented as if it has predictive abilities.
This absurd humor made me wonder how ancient people might have misinterpreted such
via stone, confusing cause and effect. Initially, I created a video that was manually played in exhibitions. Later, I programmed a website that automatically reflects weather data, showing the stone’s state changing in real-time.
