I create and think.

My artistic journey revolves around my fascination with cultural patterns that persistently emerge within my own life experiences.
Through the medium of sculpture, I aim to express these intricate patterns, dissecting them and shedding light on their significance. While my early works were inspired by the interpretation of orientalism as portrayed in the media, my recent focus has shifted towards the tangible aspects of urban culture, specifically the architectural forms and enigmatic traces that seem to have no clear origins.
I find myself captivated by the cityscape and the ambiguous imprints it holds. These unidentifiable layers of history and culture that accumulate over time, much like the layers in a work of art, have become a central theme in my recent creations. I strive to interpret these enigmatic traces extracted from the urban and modern context as patterns, revealing the intricate dance between culture, landscape, time, and the materials involved in the artistic process.
In my artistic practice, I predominantly employ industrial materials such as acrylic and stainless steel components. I assemble these materials with precision and care, aiming to convey the sensation that arises when these distinct elements collide and interact, blurring the lines between them. The result is a sensory experience, a visual and tactile exploration of the interplay between materials and their inherent characteristics.
Collaboration has also been a significant part of my artistic journey. I am fortunate to work alongside fellow visual artists, including Heejoo Keem and Juyoung Park, as part of the collaborative group known as "Pastry." Together, we engage in a wide range of projects that explore diverse and discontinuous approaches to art and media. This collaborative endeavor has enriched my creative process, offering fresh perspectives and ideas that continually push the boundaries of our artistic exploration.
In conclusion, my art is a reflection of my ongoing exploration of cultural patterns, urban landscapes, and the interplay of materials.
